"What an amazing class. I learned so much from this class that it's hard to even know where to start. I wish I had been taught some of these strategies when I was a student."

Lauren Pisano
4th Grade Teacher

"The research-to-practice methods that were employed were especially helpful in my learning. I am convinced that through these methods, children won't be pigeonholed into whether or not they are a 'math person."

Carrie Cole
Educational Consultant

"This course was one of the most helpful and practical development experiences that I've had in my 18 years of teaching.

Julie Blair
4th Grade Teacher

You are ready to change how you teach math and how your students think about math!

  • You have kiddos who have 'learned' the multiplication strategies, yet still revert back to skip counting.
  • You are looking for something that will help you with those kiddos who 'just don't get it'.
  • You are looking for how to help your kiddos understand that 3/4 is not 3 out of 4 objects, but actually 3 one-fourth pieces.
  • You want to help your students be flexible thinkers when they add & subtract.

And you want to do all this and make it FUN!!!

You're ready to get excited again about teaching math!!.

At the end of this course, you will have:

  • A clearly defined progression of what number sense looks like and how it impacts multi-digit addition & subtraction, multiplication & division, and fractions.
  • Peace of Mind in knowing you are heading in the right direction
  • More of a conceptual understanding of the math you teach. If you are like me, you were taught the procedural steps of math but NOT the understanding behind them.
  • More time, because this course will give you pre-made games and lists of activities to help you build number sense for your kiddos…no more endlessly searching on Pinterest and TpT wondering if what you are finding is any good.

Clear & Defined Path

Learn the foundational pieces of Number Sense that are keeping your students from becoming fluent with AND get lots of ideas to help you develop your plan of implementation.

Conceptual Understanding

It's hard to teach kids the WHY behind the math if we never learned it ourselves. Let me help you build the conceptual understandings to help your students understand the WHY behind the procedures.

Love of Teaching Math

For too many educators, math is NOT their favorite subject. If that is you, this course will help you learn to LOVE teaching math.

Meet Christina

{to give you an idea of who I am & my math ed philosophy}

  • I have 4 wonderful children and I thank the Lord that He changed the way I thought about mathematics before they arrived in my life so that I could provide math experiences for them, instead of math flash cards.
  • I call myself a Recovering Traditionalist. I was a very traditional learner and teacher....give me an algorithm and I could solve it....give me any mental math or story problems and I would start sweating.
  • I believe in the power of a positive and growth mindset (for ourselves and our kiddos). Failure is often how we learn our best lessons...yet we try too hard to not let our students fail in class. Feeding them step-by-step directions on how to solve mathematics problems is NOT truly mathematics.
  • My mother was my junior high English teaher and she wood probably have a heart atack if she ever red any thing I put out....well, except for the first book i published (she was my editer). I donut take the time to be gramatically corect and nothin' is ever prefect {I would rather spend my time with my kids than ensure I wrote a complete sentence or speled all the wurds in this paragraf correctly ;).

What you'll learn

There are four parts to building students’ flexibility:

1.UNDERSTANDING

In this module we will build our understanding of the 8 Number Sense Concepts that build students' flexibility with numbers...

2.OBSERVING

...then we learn how to observe students to see what concepts they understand and which ones they are still building.

3.CONNECTING

Seeing how the number sense concepts connect together and connect with other math concepts helps determine....

4.EXPERIENCING

...the experiences you provide students to help them build their flexibility. We will discuss the types of experiences you should provide students and you will get lots that you can use right away with your students.

Participants will become knowledgeable about instructional practices that build connections around number and increase student flexibility. You will learn the content, methods, and materials necessary to develop number sense in 3rd-5th Grade. You will become familiar with assessing through observation and using children’s thinking to guide instruction. You will develop an understanding of the framework for children’s development of number sense. Overall, you will become more confident in your ability to teach mathematics.

Specifically, the course will address the following concepts:

4 Early Numeracy Concepts (Subitizing, Verbal Counting, Object Counting, and Cardinality) and the 4 Number Relationships (Spatial Relationships, One/Two More & Less, Benchmark Numbers, and Part-Part-Whole)

The missing piece in math fluency
work is building kids’ flexibility

Flexibility with numbers is something we cannot directly teach to kids. It comes from the experiences they have with numbers and the connections they see between numbers. The Flexibility Formula helps 3rd-5th grade teachers learn how to help kids catch flexibility so you can build math minds and not just create calculators.

What You Get With The Course

Get These Bonuses When You Enroll

Bonus #1 - Editable Image Pack

Throughout Flexibility Formula 3rd-5th, I will be talking a lot about making the concepts visual for your students. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was an easy way to do that??? Well, there is! When you register for the course you will be given a document full of all the visual images I use inside the course, plus a video on how to use the image pack to create the visuals your students need to see.

Not only do you get visuals for multiplication, but you get visuals for multi-digit numbers and fractions as well! All fully editable!

Bonus #2 - 1 year Access to Brainingcamp

Manipulatives are a great way to make math more visual. Whether virtual or physical, it doesn't matter, kids need to work with objects to build connections through the concrete-representation-abstract models.

So, when you enroll in The Flexibility Formula, you will get a code to access Brainingcamp's virtual manipulative platform for a year for FREE.
